Why Twitter is Killing Your Game

I saw the funniest thing I’ve ever seen in my entire life earlier.
I actually tried to take a picture for you guys, but unfortunately, the reflection in the window didn’t come out.
I was checking out a class at my gym, thinking to myself, “This Buns of Steel class looks good…”
Then I see this woman in the class with her little iPhone next to her—her sweet, loving, little iPhone.
Her anti-social device: her device that connects her to the rest of the world except for the world that she’s in.
I was watching her and I was getting a kick out of it because as she was doing her little leg exercises, she was looking at the phone, cruising through texts.
And I’m thinking to myself, “That’s a great way to get in shape for the iPhone maybe.”
It’s a trip when people do that. It really is hilarious when people can’t put their phones down. We’ve become a society addicted to technology. We can’t even take an exercise class anymore without having our little iPhone next to us because God forbid we miss an e-mail, a text, or some stupid update from some fake friend on Facebook.
Time to drop it guys.
It’s time to put the phones down for a minute.
I spent my 20s in the 80s when technology consisted of an answering machine. I actually used to look forward to going home at night and checking out my answering machine to see who called.
You don’t need to be connected to the world constantly. For one, it’s dangerous when you’re driving, and two, it’s just a waste of time. You miss out on things, you miss out on a class, you miss out on opportunities to connect with people.
So check back into life.
Get off Twitter for a little while.
Get off Facebook for a few days.
And when you’re out and about, take the white earphones from your ears and listen to the birds chirping, eavesdrop in conversations—something, anything.
Just. Connect.
