When you’re dating a man, I know it’s really important for you as a woman, to introduce us to your best friend.
We dread that night.
When you hang out with your best friend, you always act like a giggly little teenager.
You find things soo funny.
The conversation will be normal and then you’ll break into story telling mode about something that you and your friend think is funny, thinking that we should find it funny also.
We don’t think it’s funny at all.
We love that you have a close personal relationship with your best friend. We enjoy it. We think it’s great. We want to always be in high standing with your best friend, because when we’re in high standing with your best friend, we know that even during the rocky times she will be our greatest support.
We don’t really want to see you drop down to a giggling teenager. We just don’t think things are that funny, so we always get silent.
Think about all the times you’ve been out with men and your best friend. Think about them. How many times have you seen a man sitting there silent, not laughing at your story, just sitting there fiddling his food, or fiddling his drink. How many times have you seen that?
You’ve seen it many times, because we’re just not into it. Not that we don’t like her, it’s just that we don’t want to see you act all immature, because you know what, we don’t expect you to want to hang with us and our best friend.
We know you don’t want to sit around and watch us burp and fart and act like men and talk about sports and talk about things in the sixth grade or immature little things.
Because that’s what usually happens when you have a friend that you’ve known for so long, you share things at so many different levels, that you tend to get like a little giggly girl, and a man tends to act like a little boy.
That’s all. No big deal.
So, the next time you want to introduce him to a best friend, just keep in mind that this may not be the best idea for him. But he’s going because he cares a lot about you, and that’s a big sign.
He’s showing that he cares about you and he’s curious about you, and wants to hang with you, and see you in all situations, even if he thinks your inside jokes are stupid.
