I was driving around today, I was listening to The Steve Miller Band. Do you remember the song, “Fly Like An Eagle?”
It’s such a great song. The chorus goes, “Time keeps on slipping, slipping, into the future.”
It’s scary how true it is. Time does keep on slipping, slipping into the future. I want you to look at yourself right now in the mirror. It’s amazing, isn’t it? Did you ever think you would be this age?
Whenever I approach my next birthday I’m amazed at how old I’m going to be. In fact, it shocks me. I can’t believe that I am of this age. I scratch my head and I think to myself, “How the hell did this ever happen?”
The Steve Miller Band had it right. I remember when the song came out as a kid. I remember listening to it over and over again thinking, time keeps slipping into the future. It didn’t make any since to me back then, because when I was a child, all I had was time.
It felt like days were endless. I remember long summer days that just went on forever. I remember getting up at 7:00 in the morning, having a bowl of Sugar Pops, or Frosted Flakes. I remember running on the beach, my Mom calling me in for lunch. Spending the whole afternoon playing. Then convincing my mom that I needed to go out on the beach one more time, before I went to bed at 8:30pm.
It seemed like Summers just fly past now, but I was a kid, every day was so beautiful to play, and every day was so amazing to be able to watch time go by slowly.
Time keeps slipping, slipping into the future. When we were kids, we had endless time. We had endless opportunities. As we get older time isn’t on our side anymore. Time keeps slipping into the future, but the big question is, what are you doing with your time?
How are you making the most of your time? What are you doing with the time you have left in the world? Because the time slips into the future as we get older, we realize we don’t have as much time left, as we did when we were little kids playing on the beach.
So today, I want you to ask yourself, do you make the most of your time? Do you make the most of your time on this planet?
If you can’t answer that with a resounding yes, it’s time to make some changes before it’s too late. Something for you to think about today.
