I have an important lesson for you today…
The first thought when you wake up in the morning should not to be impressed that you woke up, it’s not to think about all the things you need to do, and it’s not to think about what you’re worried about. Successful people wake up with one thing in mind. It’s called the power of “How can I?”
Whatever you do for a living, whether you’re a copywriter, Marketer, Doctor, Lawyer, Gas station attendant, or Burger King burger flipper.
Every morning when you wake up, you need to have this one thought in your mind…
“How can I be better than I was yesterday? How can I improve on my job? How can I be better at my job? How can I connect better with my customers, my employees? How can I connect better with myself? How can I make my performance even better?”
Lately I’ve been doing an inventory of my life and I feel as if I’m surrounded by a bunch of people who don’t believe the same way I do. They always use the phrase, “Wait, let’s not do that now. Let’s do this instead.”
The “power of wait” means that they don’t really want to be successful. That they don’t look at their life and say, “You know, I could be better, but I’m okay where I’m at.”
And that’s okay if you want to live an average life. If you’re content exactly where you’re at and you’re happy to live an average life then so be it, but the power of how can I goes a lot deeper than that.
How can I be a better friend to all my friends? How can I communicate better to my friends? What friend of mine really needs me right now? What friend needs me to listen? What friend needs me to open up more in our relationship?
The power of how can I works in relationships too.
How can I be a better husband? How can I be a better father? How can I be a better son/daughter? The power of how can I works in so many different ways. By using the power of how can I, you live a more fulfilled life, especially in interpersonal relationships. How can I be better for my partner, my lover, my wife?
How can I be a better listener, a better lover? How can I be more attentive? How can I be a better person?
Personal growth is something that I take seriously. That’s the reason why I’m in this business. Dating just happened to have been my calling card, not exactly the thing I want to talk about 110 times a day, because I’d rather talk about being a better person. How can I be a better person? That’s how I wake up every day. I like to do the tough work.
I enjoy getting raw, open, and vulnerable. I look at the present and create a whole new future. I look at my past to see what’s holding me back, what stories are holding me back.
How can I eliminate these stories from holding me back from the brand new present and the brand new future?
The power of how can I is one of the most powerful lessons you can learn. When you get it you’re going to become a much better person all around. And your relationships, from business to personal, are going to grow before your eyes!
