The 24-Hour Texting Rule!

I don’t know how to put this, except…if you give out your number and a guy texts you… text him back!!
If you met him on one of those new dating sites Bumble, Hinge, Tinder, or Match.com, or you met him face-to-face at a Starbucks. You liked him enough to give him your number. The guy reached out. Granted, he didn’t call. But you have to at least answer his text.
You know why he doesn’t call?
Most of the time when guys call nowadays, nobody picks up a number they don’t know. In fact, it goes straight to voicemail and then they leave a message. Most of the time — I’ve drawn a poll, 89% of the women when men leave a voicemail, they text the guy back and say… “I got your voicemail, what’s up?”
I want you to pass this blog onto all your friends. I want to institute a 24-hour rule. In fact, I’m thinking of calling Apple and Samsung, and the other phone manufacturers, and giving them an idea. At the end of that first text, there needs to be a little note. The note should say something very brief, very simple, like this…
“Warning: this text expires in 24 hours”
Simple, that’s it. Something really simple, something really easy. I see the same people when I look online and look at these apps for my friends and for my clients, and I do it regularly. I see the same women over and over again. I talked to a client the other day that I was helping with online dating.
I said to him, “I saw that girl six months ago; I saw her five months ago; I saw her four months ago.” No wonder, so many of you are sitting home alone on Saturday night. Just text him back. At least set up a phone call and a time to talk. It’s worth the 5 minutes to see if you’ve got chemistry with the person.
It really is that simple, but it’s amazing how many women don’t bother texting back. Why are you giving out your number?
Why are you even remotely connecting with somebody? I know you’re single, I’ve seen you on these apps; I’ve seen you online.
Those are my thoughts today. I believe in the 24-hour text rule. The person might be interesting, fantastic, great, you never know until you text them back. You never know. Aren’t you curious right now? Think about that. You never know. The man that you blew off could have been your future husband, your future boyfriend, a future lover.
I tell guys all the time to text twice, come up with something clever and funny the next time, like, “Were you abducted by aliens? Did Labor Day eat you up? Did you go swimming and you got lost in sea over the weekend?”
Text her twice, and if she still doesn’t respond, then leave her to it.
