David i think ths video is so true!!! i dated a beautiful girl the other day but i felt as if all the time i was trying to be someone i was not, probably overwhelmed by her beauty and personality... i came back home depressed and promised myself never to fake being somene else, even though that may not look as "cool" or whatever... i think sometimes we are so desperate to get something we think is out of our reach that we just fake who we are, even lie about ourselves just cause we think that can give us a better chance... and it is a shame, in fact i felt shameful the other day... Thanks for the video David, it will be of great us keep up the great work!

This is one of my favorite blogs ever. It's so true... thinking that if you just knew the right things to say everything would be ok. Not even just saying the right things but acting the right way... which is a never ending cycle of failure. With sincerity, vulnerability definitely seems inherent. I think I talk at people too much... just think too much in general.

Here's the problem with sincerity Dave: If I sincerely believe that I'm an asshole then I will create that reality and I will be an asshole and sure an asshole can get laid but who in the hell really wants to have to be an asshole in order to get laid. What if I sincerely believe that I can't meet women? Then I will create that reality and never meet women. What if I sincerely believe that I'm never going to get laid? Then I will create that reality and never get laid? Come on David who are you trying to kid it can't come down to just sincerity !!! Doesn't it all boil down to just doing what works even if it isn't who we really are? What if I'm a guy who sincerely doesn't ever want to have to work ever again? Okay if I follow through on that then whose going to pay my rent at the end of the month is it David Wygant? Hell no ! David we all have to do things we don't want to do? We all want to become things that we aren't presently. From the guy who wants to be a doctor to the woman who wants to be the first president of the United States. David please throw this mythical sincerity fish back in the water because it doesn't exist !!! Bullshit you say !!! What if I sincerely believe that David Wygant is going to give me $1,000,000 for doing absolutely nothing. P.S Oh yeah, Grant, well I won enough play money at Dave and Buster's to get a coffee machine and a new board game. And I am one short visit away from a remote controlled helicopter. Pbbbbbbbt :p They used to have this ticket dispensing puzzle game called Chips Away, and I found a way to exploit the scoring mechanism and get a jackpot almost at will. They caught on and took that away from me though, so now I'm down to this stacking game that involves precise timing (jackpot that one about half the time) and Doodle Jump (no jackpots but the scoring is very generous). By the way do people around you ever wonder when you are going to grow up, and start talking news + politics and exchanging pleasantries for fun, and find a place to settle down, erect a fence, have 2.3 kids, and have getting new siding for your house be the most exciting event of the year? Because I get that one a lot too.

"Doesn’t it all boil down to just doing what works even if it isn’t who we really are?" Actually, this is a key point. You COULD go that route, and many people have succeeded with it, but you'd be prostituting your authenticity. Would you do that? Not me. I ended up here because I am stubborn as an ox, and have never sold out my values, and don't plan on starting anytime soon. Or ever. I didn't want to hang out in bars or go speed dating or online dating because I just don't ENJOY these things and they are just not me. And I most definitely did not want to start bullshitting people because honesty and integrity are more important concepts to me than getting laid. Bah! That mindset held me back significantly in the beginning, but it all paid off in the end because I eventually ended up here as a result of it. Because Wygant shows us that, contrary to popular belief, it IS in fact possible to get a woman's attention without being a phony. There is in fact hope for stubborn oxes like myself. All it takes is being in the upper echelon of men when it comes to making observations about her, paying attention and remembering things, starting a conversation, fishing for personal details, being playful, flirting, talking about feelings, planning seductive dates, sneaking in some stealth innuendo, reading her mind, handling her quirks and insecurities, etc . It's really that easy!

I guarantee women we’ll appreciate it.” Hi Love and be Loved, I think you have a really good point here however if you do this in real life with your girlfriend by constantly stopping and correcting how she speaks always remember that you have to sleep sometime and you may wake up to find your eyebrows have been shaved off :):):) Also I know it's always great to have great grammar and punctuation where conversing with a woman via text or email but if you get too mindful of that I think you can end up getting a lot of “white noise” floating through your brain like David mentions in his Goals: What Being Present Really Means (Podcast) and that can't be good for you in the long run !!! Very good blog. Everybody likes compliments, and if you really mean it, people appreciate it. I was in Barcelona/Spain a while ago, and there was this young woman walking in front of me, her walk was just too much. I said to her: Señorita, me gusta su manera de andar... Yes, it is better if you do it in the local language, because Spaniards in particular don't speak English too well. The nice thing about compliments is that it leaves YOU with a good feeling, too !

Dear David: With regards to sincerity and observation, I've been struggling with understanding how to find and talk to women my own age. Right now, I'm living in a college town and having to lie that I'm 22 not 27. However, people seem to buy it and believe that I'm 22, even at work. My best friend has told me to lie about my school because at my age, people think its weird that I'm still in college. What's your take on this issue? -Mike

I'm practicing my authenticity, guys :) All wisecracks aside though I loved the story about the normal guy meeting a cool chick on the street. I believe in the chaos theory of life - that insignificant little random accidents like blabbing to a stranger about their choice of pomegranates can end up changing your life. For example, I got to know MichiGirl because she got stranded at an event and I forgot my jacket and went back for it. If she had reliable friends and I weren't such a scatterbrain, I never would have swooped in to her rescue that day. How random is that?! On a related note I recently discovered my new favorite band by accidentally taking the wrong train on the metro.

I met my current gf by placing a bet with my sister. I said the young lady was attractive and my sister dared me to go over and converse with her. I had some chatter going on in my head (she might blow me off, have a boyfriend, etc). Honestly, it was her my sister's challenge that made me follow through. She wasn't about to see me timid or fearful of! Life changer...

Actually I oversimplified. Turns out the MichiGirl incident was especially symbolic because it was a combination of wild chance AND skill. I busted her about just wandering off with a stranger, and that I could have just driven off into the woods and had my way with her for all she knows. She confessed that she had observed me intently and mulled over it before deciding to drop the question and wouldn't just drive off with a random stranger. Because these days when I go out, I go to the same few places over and over, make my goal to just have lots of fun, flirt with and get to know EVERYONE, and become an active member of the community rather than just another visitor. This shouldn't surprise anyone though - it's all part of the curriculum + I'm just repeating what Wygant told me :)
