Today I’m writing another in the series of Love Is articles (you need to check out the other one linked here so you can read more)…
Love is appreciation.
Your lover, your partner, takes you out to dinner. Even though they’ve done it a thousand times, thank them.
They come home with flowers, they come home with a present for you. Thank them.
They do something for you, like make you breakfast, or allow you to sleep in late. Thank them.
They take the kids to school in the morning so you can have an extra 20 minutes by yourself. Thank them.
Love is all about appreciation. One of the lessons that I teach my little daughter over and over again is to simply say thank you and be appreciative.
She’s definitely a little spoiled.
She needs to have new stuff all the time.
Am I guilty of it? Absolutely. Is her mother guilty of it? Absolutely.
I try to say no over and over again. I try to do it and I do for the majority of stuff.
But I also teach her how to appreciate things. She knows when she’s getting her face painted. Thank you.
Even it’s getting a bottle of water. Thank you.
Love is appreciating somebody every single day before going to bed.
Thanking them for being there for you.
Because when you truly have a great love relationship, you’re truly thanking that person every single day for being in your life, and that’s where the deeper version of thank you comes in.
You’re thanking them for being in your life. For being the amazing person that they are. For making your life so much more loving and so much better.
Thanking them for that. Everyday being in full-on gratitude for the person that you have in your life. Gratitude is a great thing. So when you see the people that you love in your life, friends.
Wife.
Husband.
Your girlfriend.
Your boyfriend.
Your children.
I want you to be in full-on gratitude for them. For the love that they give you every single day and for the love that you share with them. The things that they do. The moments that you have.
Because you never know when this journey of life is over, so you definitely need to be in gratitude every single day.
