For those of you who don’t know, there’s a new job out there. It’s called being an influencer.
Apparently, you don’t need to have any brain at all.
Here’s What Being an “Influencer” Means…
You’ve built up an Instagram account…
You’ve worn bikinis…
You’ve done something outrageous…
You’ve managed to do practical jokes on YouTube or somewhere else, and get lots of views…
If you’ve done any of the above, now you are an influencer.
Why? Because you have the ability to get to large quantities of people.
You are now called an influencer.
Influencers vs. Experts
You think you’re an expert.
A lot of these so-called influencer have no clue about life, yet they are now coaches, as well.
I looked at a 22-year-old girl who built up her Instagram. Very easily you can tell how she did it. She basically put on bikinis and looked half naked.
But now she is a health, wellness and life coach at 22 years old.
Because yea, that’s exactly what I want to do.
I want to go to a 22-year-old life coach and have them tell me how to live.
I can’t wait. Sign me up for that.
Sign me up for that advice I’m going to get.
Influencer… or Con Artist?
This so-called influencer who’s supposed to be my friend was supposed to appear with some of his products and post it on her Instagram four times for free products that she got.
Well, guess what? This sweet little con artist with half a brain (I’m not going to tell you her name), basically didn’t even realize that when you get free stuff from people, you should do what you say. So she didn’t. Hence half a brain.
The guy who paid her had to pursue and chase her to get her to do what she said she was going to do and he had to threaten her until she finally did it.
So I dug, deeper. And I started doing a little poll. Have any of you had any issues with influencers?
I found that most people who are promised something from an influencer to help advertise or be seen with their products, their influencer took the product and never, ever took the picture or never, ever shot the video.
And why is that?
Because influencers usually are young people who have not really learned life’s lessons yet.
They have an ego, because they feel like they’re an influencer, because they have large amounts of following.
But it doesn’t mean they have large amounts of integrity.
I’m not saying all influencers self-absorbed scum.
But it seems like a lot of them are.
But then again, you’ve gotta remember: this is the country that we live in now.
We reward people for doing nothing but posting pictures of themselves or doing some ridiculous thing on YouTube. And we allow them to be an influencer.
I don’t follow any of these people. I don’t have any interest in looking at bikini models on Instagram. I don’t really need to validate somebody’s practical jokes on YouTube.
My brother and I did practical jokes years ago. We were not influencers. We were living in the 80s. We did things that were far funnier than some of the people right now.
But there was no such thing as YouTube back then. If there was, my brother and I would have been influencers. God forbid anybody who was influenced by us because all we were doing was acting like idiots.
So: influencer or con artist? What’s your take on this?
