A while ago, my friend John and I watched the OJ Simpson documentary. The funny thing was OJ Simpson himself had produced it, so we knew it would be pro OJ throughout. After about 40 minutes of watching it, we looked at each other and said, “God, maybe the guy didn’t actually do it.”
It’s amazing when you watch him speak. He’s so convincing, you truly believe that he was actually a victim in all of this.
It’s almost unbelievable when you watch and listen to it, because it makes you believe OJ didn’t do it. The reality is we have no idea if OJ did it or not. We have no idea who killed JFK. We have no idea about so many things that happened in history. So let’s turn to your life. Lying is very powerful thing. The more you tell yourself something, the more you actually believe it. That’s why you’re all chronic liars.
That’s right. Every single one of you reading this right now is a chronic liar about something in your life. You’ve convinced yourself you can’t do something. Many of you believe you can’t approach women. You see, what happens is, you tell yourself so many times you can’t approach women, that now you can’t. Some of you have told yourself the lie that you don’t deserve a decent job because you’re not skilled enough.
As you go to work every single day to your shitty job that makes you miserable, you actually believe you deserve that. You actually believe your lie. Some of you have told yourself you can’t quit smoking. Every time you light up, you tell people, “Oh I tried so many times, but I just can’t seem to do it.”
You’re lying to yourself!
Some of you can’t lose weight. You believe that because you’ve told yourself the same lie over and over. Every time you start a diet, you go in with the mindset you’re going to fail. You know deep down you’re going to give up, but you tell yourself you’re going to give it a real go this time.
Do you see the language I’m using right now?
“I can’t. I wonder. Fail.”
Some of your lives are out of control. Every day when you look into your inbox and emails come pouring in, you feel overwhelmed by it. You say to yourself, “I can’t manage my life.”
Ah, what a great lie. You’ve convinced yourself you can’t manage your own life, and you say to yourself, “Every time I try to get somewhere or achieve something, nothing seems to work out for me.”
Another great lie you tell yourself all the time!
You see what I’m talking about?
All of you have tapped into your inner OJ. That’s right. You’re no different to OJ Simpson. Maybe you didn’t murder your wife and her lover, but every day you murder your own life. Every day you stab yourself in the heart. Every time you use the powerful words, “I can’t. I won’t” you’re destroying your own future.
You actually believe your own lies. Every time you try to approach a woman, you’ll say to yourself, “This never works for me.”
So the exact thing you expect to happen, happens. Every day when I wake up, I believe I can do whatever I want, when I want. Because I believe in that so much, I’ve made that my truth.
Do you want to continue to be a chronic liar in your life?
Do you want to continue lying to yourself?
Maybe you should just change your name now. Let’s say your name is Bob and your last name is Thomas. You should just call yourself Bob “OJ” Thomas. Or if your name is Amy and your last name is Vincent, you can call yourself Amy “OJ” Vincent. Stop lying to yourself!
