Whenever I run my weekend boot camps, I always get asked the same question:

“Where should I go to meet great women?”

(A lot of these guys don’t want to go to clubs or bars, and I don’t blame them.)

So what is a man to do if he wants to avoid these standard institutions?

Here’s some dating advice and it’s probably going to blow you away:

Do what you love.

Crazy isn’t it?

But it’s not just about doing what you love. I don’t mean that you should sit around, eat Cheetos and play video games. That will not attract women.

David, I would ease up on calling women "pussy" and all your "pussy" fetish blog posts, lately. Not sure what is going on in your life, that is bringing on all that weird talk, and fascination with pussy, pussy eating, etc, but women are far more than walking "pussies" and deserve a little more respect. Hate for the guys reading, to start taking this shallow approach, as it will get them nowhere, and get the dreaded "creeper" name, real quick, behaving like that. I never use that word (unless talking dirty, during sex), never have, and think that most women find it insulting and degrading to be constantly referred to by it. It is easy to meet women. As you say, do what you like, and just talk to them, as you would with any person, about what you are doing, what is happening around you and her, and just act like she is an equal. You turned the girl off immediately, that was curious about what was going on by your curt remark. My advice, be nice, respectful, and just talk to women like they are just friends and people. If there is a connection, ask them out...

Women get told the same thing..."do what you love and the men will follow" Unfortunately, quite often, women and men love to do totally different things. For example, I got an email from my friend the other day about some events at the zoo this summer...one was an evening wine tasting and zoo stroll...I thought that sounded like so much fun...for a date. There won't be any single guys there and I will have 'wasted' a free night out doing something I enjoy because there's not a chance I will meet a man there. It's a constant conundrum. There's a painting class my girlfriends and I want to take but I hesitate to sign up because I need to put myself in the position to meet single men when I get a free night out or I might as well just stay home and eat Cheetos. Actually been thinking a lot about that lately. I work very hard to keep myself in shape. Deny myself sweets and treats, work out very hard and end up sore and semi-injured...doing this for myself, yes, but also so I can remain attractive to the opposite sex. Still can't find love. It's like I am spending my entire life without pleasure of any kind. No sex, no hugs, no brownies....seriously, it's stupid, right? Bob- I have still been meeting men in person and that's become easy (like you said) but they have all been utterly useless. They know i have kids from (almost) the minute we start talking. They could run and not waste any time. They get my number and never call. Or they text me a bunch and never ask me out. Regardless, I never see them again despite the fact that when we meet they have a great time talking with me and say they can't wait to see me again. Don't know what this is but it's worse than online dating. Maybe. I can't decide. All I know is that it's literally driving me insane that I have zero control over the situation. I am a pro-active person. This doesn't work.

Melissa- "Health is wealth" "Do what you love" This advice applies to both male and female, the art class you mentioned would have been a perfect opportunity to meet guys.When you do what you love, people will see that and want to be part of it to. Hi Random- No, it won't be a good place to meet guys...the class, that is. It's a casual, drink wine, girls night out deal. Not a 'real' class...just a couple of times a month thing. My point is...I would LOVE it. But, would go home to an empty house after. And yeah, I get that being healthy is important. Whoop-DI-freaking-ding. What is the point of a long life without love? I thought that's why we have nuns.

You're not likely going to meet guys at an event that they obviously would not be into. I'm close to many many women who know all the ins and outs about this....who have been to every kind of event in the LA social scene. They used to go to everything, but now they know to be more selective in picking scenes where their type of guy will show up. Certain events attract the smart rich guys....others the hot starving artist types... it's just a huge waste of time to go on those nature walks or poetry readings when most guys hate that stuff.

E- Yes. That's what I am saying. That's why the 'do what you love' idea doesn't pan out. If you are a dude who loves trains and train sets, it's unlikely you will meet a woman at a train convention. If I loved to scrapbook, I will not meet a man while scrapbooking. That's why men and women go to bars and clubs...it's a unisex event. But also a bad way to meet people. Catch 22.

Melissa, One thing I noticed about you, you have urgency trying to meet a guy as though your under some time constraint. I understand you do have limited time, you have kids to take care of and a job...You are right, scrapbooks are not that interesting for guys to go and sign up for and have fun with unless he's already with a gal. But painting, you should go and sign up for it. While it's true the odds are might not in your favor to meet single men, unlike scrapbooks, there are single men interested in painting. I love to paint, but have no talent for it. The bottom line, you shouldn't avoid many of your passions to find single men. I play table tennis, how many single women in my area play table tennis? Since I have been playing competitively for many years, not many available women who play the game. However, I have met women over the years, one of which I started playing every week. She was going to school to get her masters degree in chemistry. I have met other gals to, playing the game I love. So even though the odds were not in my favor, I still manage to find interested women to talk to and hang out with! :) Have you ever tried going to Home Depot to meet men on a shopping day?

-Melissa Its simply a matter of chance, weather or not you meet a guy who appreciates you and is ok with you having children. Im sure you will work out ways to meet the type of guy your looking for... It don't matter how great your personality is, how intelligent you are, how attractive you are, how much money you have or how good you are in bed, most single guys want to have children if they haven't already have had some but if they have, you have a chance of getting with that guy.
