Is that really news?

Nothing new about that and really nothing very interesting either.

But here’s what I think.

I think women are addicted to Charlie Sheen “Man Boys” and crave to be the one to fix them.

I also feel that some men are Charlie Sheen “Wanna Be Man Boys” and crave the variety and deviance of that lifestyle.

In the past I have dated guys like these "man boys," its a funny term David. As a woman I grew sick and tired of it, and eventually change is needed to be able to live a healthy life.

I think there is a Charlie Sheen lurking inside of me. I'm addicted to alchohol, hookers and drugs. Its hard to change when the addiction is so strong. What would you guys recommend I do?? I definetly doont' want to follow Sheen's footsteps??

I liked that last statement on the podcast: "We are not fixable, unless we fix ourselves". So many women trying to fix men. There are also men out in the world trying to fix women. I used to try and fix people, have them do the thing I want. That was a never-ending battle, so I stopped doing that. I like watching Two and a half men. Charlie plays the rich guy who is a stripper addict. I like his sense of humor in th series. I would never want to model him in real life though.

Great podcast. It's bad enough that Sheen acts like a reckless person, but to rank your wife against others and to tell her where she stands on the sex scale? Good grief!!!! And then to announce it on TV. What a piece of ****. Sadly, there are many people with addictive behaviors (myself included). Honesty is the way to go. "The truth will set you free."

If I was rich, I'd spend 12K on a hot pornstar. With that much cash on hand who cares? Charlie Sheen is a headcase though..so obvouisly he's going to attract another headcase,but he can be really funny when he wants to. For some reason these podcasts keep stopping on me, never happened before but last few about 2 mins in they drop out :(

Like the way you don't condemn the lifestyle, of the playboy. I agree, if that is the way a guy wants to live his life, more power to him, as long as he is up front about it. I don't adhere to it either, but can even envy that type of lifestyle, now and then. But, don't you think Denise Richards, and all his other women, knew who, and how, Charlie Sheene, was before they got with him? Don't you think they knew he wasn't going to change? I don't think they were trying to be "Sally Fix its", in his case, although, I get it, for normal, unknown, ordinary, guys, your podcast makes sense. His example is nothing like a normal "player" who uses women, while they unknowingly think they can fix him, and make a normal life with him. I do believe, In most cases, the right woman, can actually "fix" the player, if she is the right one. I have seen it time and time again. The timing just has to be right. The women are the actual "users" in Sheen's case, wanting to "ride his coat tails", hoping for an advantage, in their careers. Charlie Sheen is a well known, very rich, actor, and women don't care about his "outside activities", as long as they can get their name associated with his. Great post, but not a great example for the normal, working class fellow, who tricks women into thinking they want a relationship with.

I find it kind of funny that there are women who think they can change this type of men. I have a female friend who dated a alcoholic for awhile, she hated him and yet she thought she had a chance to save him. After years of trying finally she figured out that he wasn't bringing anything to the relationship and she was getting a lot of abuse for trying to help him.

Thanks for posting this David, I couldn't agree more. In my experience over the last year, honesty is key. First with ones self then with others. For me this transcends romantic relationships and should be true of all relationships. I am a realist so I know it will never happen across the board but I try to do my part. Honestly looking at myself right now means acknowledging that I have no interest in women romantically. After spending the last 15 years with my high school sweetheart (met at 16, married at 19) I am spending time figuring out who I am and where I want to be. (I guess that also puts me on the opposite end of the Sheen spectrum) Aside from the obvious issues of getting together young, honesty, first with ourselves, then each other, proved to be the biggest hurdle. Which leads to the second point about being honest: DON'T STOP BEING HONEST IN THE BEGINNING OF A RELATIONSHIP. If you do, you will end up ignoring or missing signs that things aren't working, therefor missing opportunities to correct course, whatever that may mean.

Great Podcast.Its the first time I'm writing. I am not nearly as close to being a Man boy as Sheen, but I definitely have some man boy qualities. For example after I date a girl for a few months I get bored, simple as that. Its like a cat that plays with a mouse and then when the mice dies the cat gets bored and wants to chases other mice. In my case it doesnt matter if the girl is really nice to me. But I've come to realize this 'man boy' syndrom by myself and this podcast has been very helpful. It'll help me be honest with myself and girls that I meet because I hate making them feel bad.

Youssef I was a man boy for a long long time. Never wanted to grow up and always got tired of women within 3 months and was onto the next one. Never ever understood why anyone would go to whore. Sex was always an emotional experience for me even if it was the thrill of a one night fling.

David and all you guys, Excellent podcast. I wanted to say to anyone who is living a dishonest man boy life and wants to change, it is definately possible to change and to become honest with yourself. The first and number one thing you MUST do is to take responsibility for your own actions and to stop blaming others/circumstances. I have been a man boy with regard to women and I have drunk too much and now after years of struggle with myself I am honest, clean and dry and I will never go back. Stand up and be real men guys! David knows what he's talking about here. Be honest with yourself and with everyone in your life, not just the women you date. Everyone. Be decent and have integrity. Andrew.

David, thanks for getting back to me! What made me change was that he smoked all the time, and was drunk most evenings. I was physically and mentally abused by him. God knows how many times he cheated on me. I was so naive and I really had faith in him. I didn't listen to my friends and family when I should have. I guess well make choices in life and there is always a price we pay. I am glad I have moved on and learned what I needed to learn from my past experiences.

I can definitely admit to all of those behaviors. I am 22 and have caused too much damage in too many girls lives. I looked at myself in the mirror one and literally felt like I had reached a point of no return, like as if I didn't have a soul. It felt horrible and decided I would fess up start new start fresh with my ex. I felt like I could do it. For me, my family, and her. She believed me and for a couple of weeks i was good, but then I gave into temptation. I went out with some girls, got drunk, felt that rush again and It was over. I am now currently with another girlfriend, and I tell her i cannot change. I am this way and i keep breaking her heart even though she knows ill never stop she persists on sticking thru it. I told her directly and clearly before i knew there was a "Charlie Sheen" term to call it. She called me weak, but i told her I wasn't. I just simply would never change for her?. I am a point in my life where i am beginning to realize that this type of behaviorism will only lead me to a long lonely dark road. What did you do to change David?
