Tis the season to be dating

This is such a great time of the year to go out on dates. It really is. The holidays are so much fun.
This is the time of year in which all of the guesswork comes out of dating. No longer do you need to make a reservation for a boring dinner where you sit across from each other swapping resumes. I always say one of the best dates is just a date where you don’t have to sit there and do the face-to-face resume swapping. Who really wants to resume swap on a date?
During this time of the year, you can actually get creative with your date ideas. Being creative with your date ideas allows both people on a date to be more relaxed, and allows both of you to learn a lot more about each other.
Here are seven of my favorite holiday season dates. They are all fun, relaxing, laid back and creative. You will be an instant hit by choosing any of these. So, start having fun on your dates beginning tonight with any of these:
- Do A Little Window Shopping: A great date idea is literally to go window shopping. Walk around your city or town, or go to the mall, and check out all the great holiday displays. Places go all out on their displays during this time of year. One of my favorite things to do on this date is to play a game. At every window at which you look, have each of you say what you would pick in the window if you could have (or if you had to take) one thing displayed there. Have fun with it. It’s also a great way to find out a lot about the other person’s personality.
- Hit The Rink: Ice skating is another great holiday season date idea. Most towns have an ice skating rink this time of the year. It is a great way to laugh and have fun, whether it’s because one of you is teaching each other how to skate or because you’re both falling from one end of the rink to the other.
- Peek Around At A Fair: Another holiday season date idea is to go to a Christmas fair. A lot of towns have Christmas fairs where you can actually go and drink hot cider or even have a glass of wine. There is usually a lot of things to look at and talk about at these things. You could even play the game I mentioned for window shopping with the display tables at the fair.
- Light It Up: A fun thing to do this time of the year and a great holiday date idea, is to go to the main part of town for the town’s annual tree lighting. It is a good chance to watch something beautiful and talk about your own memories and stories.
- Go To The Theater: Try going and watching a kid’s holiday play in your town. Whether it’s a community theater or school production, this is a really fun thing to do on a date. The holidays are a magical time, and watching kids perform is always a blast (and a date idea few people ever think of doing).
- Make A Wish: Hit a big department store during the holiday season for a date. No, I don’t mean to go shopping. Make it a two part date. First, head right to the cooking equipment section of the store where they will be giving out holiday samples of egg nog and food. Next, head down through the store and make your way to Santa. Get in the line to visit Santa and dare your date to sit on Santa’s lap and make a wish.
- Have An Evening Of Song: Another great holiday date is Christmas caroling. Either go and watch some caroling or do some caroling yourselves. Yes, that might sound a bit silly, but just think of it as karaoke in the cold. It will have you laughing and having a good time either way.
These are seven great ideas for dates you can plan during the holidays. They all encompass the best things that dates can be: fun, relaxing, laid back and creative. So give one or more of these a try this holiday season!
