Do you love your life?
I know that’s a really blunt, direct question. But it’s a serious question, too. Do you love your life? Are you living an amazing life? Are you enjoying everything about your life?
Some of you aren’t and I want to help change that today. I’m going to give you three reasons why you need to start loving your life.
You Only Get One
It’s the only one you’re going to get. You need to think about that right now. The life you’re living, this body you’re in, the family you have cannot be traded back. You only have one chance to ride around on the globe and then you die.
For many this is a depressing thought, but it should be an invigorating thought. A time limit is often a great source of creativity. Once you embrace the time limit you can start making decision on how you would like to spend your time.
If you’re not enjoying your life, if you’re not enjoying your time on Earth, make a change. Picture you’re at a hotel. You’re lucky to even have gotten in the hotel in the first place. It was supposed to be five stars, the best of everything.
However, when you arrive at your room, you notice there’s construction scheduled just outside the bedroom window. You’d request another room because you wouldn’t want to waste the small amount of time you get for a vacation listening to construction worker pound concrete.
This is the only life you’re going to get. We have no idea where we go, but we do know we only get this one shot to be on Earth. You may be reincarnated as a bird, flying and soaring above. You might come back as a plant on the side of the road.
Who knows?
The only thing we can control is that we have a life to live now.
Stop Complaining
Stop bitching about all the things that are bad in your life. Start focusing on the positive in your life. This is science folks not just my opinion. Have you ever noticed how good it can feel to bitch and moan? It feels like you’re getting something off your chest. When you complain in a group of people it feels like bonding.
This is because depression and complaining can be addictive. Complaining can become a comfort zone. You can get so used to saying everything in your life is bad that you become addicted to it. Soon you’re complaining about everything, whether you have a problem with it or not because you don’t know any better.
The best way to break this cycle of complaint is correct the behavior as it arises. When you notice you’re complaining about something, stop yourself and analyze how you’re truly affected by your complaint. For example, if you’re always complaining about work, think about how work really makes you feel. Do you not like the job?
Is it the people you work with?
Is it the commute?
Or are you just complaining to complain?
We all can spend our days bitching and complaining, but who feels like listening?
When you ask somebody how their day is going and they tell you not great, all you want to do is run. I know it’s far easier to think about what’s wrong in your life, what’s missing in your life, but I’d like you to write down all the positive, amazing things happening in your life. Focus on what you are grateful for and the bad will start to fade away.
You Can Always Improve
There are things that you need to do: work out more, make more money, get a bigger house, make sure the kids are in the best school, find a great man…
What I want you to do now is start looking at the things that you need to accomplish and start setting realistic goals. The only way goals work is by setting realistic ones. Take a look at the things on your list you want to accomplish. Put them in order of things you most want to accomplish, to this can wait. Don’t worry about the difficulty level. Life is full of difficulties. You’ve overcome so many by now, don’t let a challenge stand in the way of a better future.
In order to build momentum in life, you need to take baby steps. If you want to lose weight, start with a goal of five pounds. You may want to lose more, and you will, but if you start with five you’re setting yourself up for a win. Once you lose five, you’ll do five more, and five more until you’ve reached a healthy weight.
Maybe you just want to approach a few men. Instead of going out and trying to find 30 dates in 30 days approach three men at a bar on a Saturday night. I’m just keeping these as examples. In order to live your life the way you want you need to find goals you can accomplish quickly. Start building up your confidence. Once your confident you’ll have gained the momentum you need to live the life you so strongly desire.
You only have one shot at being the amazing you, so why waste it with negativity and complaints?
Today, I’d like you to write down in the comments section how you’re going to start embracing and living the amazing life that you’ve been given.
