Here’s something that I never talk about:
Cooking.
Can any of you imagine me cooking?
Can you see me donning a chef’s hat with a big smile on my face?
Well you better believe it.
The other night, I had a bunch of people over at my house, and I decided to cook.
Well let me tell you something: cooking is sometimes not as cheap as ordering out. You can order Indian food for about $10 less.
But that’s okay because it’s all about the experience.
One of us chopped, the other of us sautéed, and the other of us marinated. It was an amazing experience. It just seems like cooking is always done by two people, and one extra person seems like a luxury.
Three people eating dinner—it’s a fun thing to do. You’ve got the smells going. You’ve got people running around. You’ve got music playing.
And here’s one of my favorite recipes of all time, anybody can do it. You ready? Good.
Get yourself some shrimp, chili powder, masala sauce, black pepper and sea salt.
Chop up some onions, and sauté the onions with some garlic and the shrimp, the masala, the black pepper, and the chili powder.
Put a cover on it and just let it simmer. Let the shrimp cook real slow, and then keep adding a little more spices here and there to taste. Then, cut up a lemon, and juice it over the shrimp.
Now, take some vegetables—your zucchini, your squash, your broccoli, your kale, whatever you want to put in there.
Now throw them all in a big pan and sauté them very slowly. Now, open up the other pan and put an entire carton of cherry tomatoes and mushrooms in with the shrimp.
Now cover it. The cherry tomatoes will start exploding, and the mushrooms will start absorbing all the great spices.
Let that simmer for another 10 minutes.
Then, you mix it all together in a big pan, and you can put rice if you want, but I really prefer no rice because you don’t really need it.
And you’re done.
It makes enough for three people. And know that it’s going to be a hit, no matter who’s over. Whether it’s a friend of a girl, whether it’s two women, it doesn’t matter because cooking is intimate.
Then, the rest of the night, that’s up to you. I just gave you the recipe.
Can you imagine…Cooking with David Wygant. That’ll be my next blog.
Until then, enjoy!
