Shooting a Gun is Like Humping a Woman

Have you ever heard the phrase “life is like is a marathon, not a sprint”?
Sure you have.
Then why is it that whenever we try to make changes in our lives we want it fast?
You want to lose weight; you want the miracle weight loss. Not the regular weight loss, but the miracle weight loss. The one that promises you to lose 50 pounds in 21 and a half hours.
Whenever we want to go and meet women we’re not looking for the confidence boosting course that allows us to meet women over the course of our lifetime, we’re looking for the quick fix.
Do you know how many times a lot of guys will e-mail me the stupidest e-mail in the entire world that reads something like this:
Dear David,
Is there one thing you can tell me what will work, that will change my day? I need you to help me right now. I need one thing so I can go and meet women today.
You know what I always tell these people back?
Hey Guy,
One thing is not going to change your life. There are no words of wisdom that I’m going to say that’s going to change your life in an instant. Just like there’s no miracle diet, just like you can’t actually play in the Super Bowl, and just like you probably won’t win the lottery.
Slow and methodical always wins the race.
In anything that you do, whether it’s being in the Marines, operating heavy machinery, driving a racecar, learning how to run an ad business, or becoming a doctor—everything in life is slow and methodical.
Think about this: wouldn’t it be really cool to be a doctor one day? Maybe there’s a course online: How to be a Doctor in 12 Hours.
I can just imagine what it would be like after 12 hours…
I walk into the neighborhood hospital and I hear this: Dr. Wygant to surgery, Dr. Wygant to surgery.
Oh, that’s me. I’m a new doctor; it only took me 12 hours to get here. Forget about people who did six years of medical school residency and spent a couple hundred thousand dollars.
I am now an instant doctor. So let me go and do the surgery I need to do. Hell, I read about it on the Internet. And my whole life is going to change now because I’m a real doctor.
Uh, right.
Slow and methodical is the only way life unfolds successfully. There are no magic cures, no magic pills. There’s no weight loss product that’s going to allow you to lose 50 pounds in 21 hours. You’re not going to be a doctor in 12 hours. Slow and methodical will get you there as long as you commit to it.
A guy named Eugene came to my boot camp. He’s an ex-Marine, and taught everybody a lesson along with myself.
A Marine is not built in one day. A Marine takes a long time to build. It’s all about training and basic training, all sorts of training—everything that the government does when it teaches anybody in the armed forces.
They’re taught how to be a better soldier, how to be a thinker in the field, and how to be a strong man when it comes down to the world of military. It takes an 18-year-old boy and turns him into a machine.
You can’t become a Marine overnight; you can’t become a doctor overnight; you can’t become a marathon runner overnight; and you certainly are never going to be Peyton Manning by tomorrow morning.
But we all get caught in the fantasy.
See, women have a fantasy. A lot of women’s fantasies are to meet perfect guys and have the perfect family because they grew up without the perfect guy and without the perfect family. I call it the Disney version of romance.
A lot of women want to date like in a Walt Disney movie; one day a prince will come and magically sweep them off their feet.
But that too rarely happens.
Slow and methodical gets you to the finish line.
Their fantasy is to be able to meet women, anywhere, any place, any time. But not just women—every woman.
Men truly believe that if they study the art of meeting women, they are going to be able to meet every single woman on the planet.
Now, they are mostly right in that thinking. They will be able to meet every woman that they are able to approach. But, in life, just like everything else, there are odds. And the odds are that not every single woman they approach is going to be a woman that wants to hang out with them.
Hell, even me who has game, I can’t get any woman I want, but I can get any woman that wants me because it is mutual. I just go and present myself to a woman, the gift that I am. We talk, communicate, we exchange numbers, and then we see what happens.
Slow and methodical gets you through your life.
How many times have you found yourself at the beginning all over again?
How many pick-up manuals have you bought and found yourself at the beginning all over again?
How many times have you gone to the gym, you started working out but yet two months later, you are at the beginning all over again?
How many times have you tried to quit smoking but yet it seems like you are always at the beginning?
Slow and methodical gets you everything you want in life: women, money, friends, happiness.
Nothing is created overnight.
If life happened overnight, we would all be rich and have tons of free time.
Slow and methodical is the only way to live. Take life moment-by-moment, step-by-step.
Take time to understand life as it unfolds around you. When you do that, you will actually be able to finally have the life that you’ve always imagined and you will finally get past that starting line.
