Don’t Miss The Easy Opportunity By David Wygant
The other night Khiem and I were hanging out and talking and we wanted to share some really simple ways to start a conversation with anyone and how easy it is to meet someone when you are paying attention.
I want all the women readers to take note and learn these techniques…you can use these with men.
So what do you do when the woman approaches you – for example, when you are walking a dog and you happen to come upon an attractive dog-lover?
First of all, don’t think about it so hard. You should just see opportunities – if a woman comes into your sphere or realm, then you just need to talk to her like a normal person.
Start talking about your dog and then tell her a bit more about yourself so that she knows a little bit more about you – maybe what you say will intrigue her and she’ll want to learn more. If you talk about yourself, then the woman knows where to take the conversation.
I know a guy who gets complimented on his watch all of the time – women try to open him with that. Yet he always answers “thank you” and he doesn’t know what to do with it. What if he told her something about himself? For example, “yeah, I love this watch! I got it at Guess, and what I always try to do with my fashion is be really unique. Do you think it fits me?” Get her engaged right away.
At bars, I’ve had girls bump into me before and apologize for it. If she’s cute, then I’ll tell her, “you should be sorry! And now before you leave, you have to tell me your name!” Later on I can say, “this crazy girl Jennifer bumped into me, and I couldn’t believe it!” Because of that, she’ll start talking to me, and we’ll start bantering and flirting back and forth.
Anything that comes into your space you can turn into an opportunity to talk, to open yourself up to them – to make them engage with who you are.
Think about this – a woman walks up to my client Joel today and says, “I like that hat,” and he could say, “oh yeah, I’m kind of a gangster from the 30s” – and just play it off a bit. If a woman comes over and says, “oh god your dog is beautiful,” then I say, “do you want her? I’m selling her!”
I did this today – we were in a store, and someone said “I like your dog,” and I said, “do you want her? I’m auctioning her off to the highest bidder!” She asked, “what’s the highest bid?” and I said, “it’s a sealed bid, I’m not telling – what do you bid?”
She responded, “2 million dollars,” and I said, “2 million? Cash or credit – I’m not sure what your credit rating is right now…” So you just go and you bust them and you have fun.
You need to give yourself permission to have a good time with the conversation – that’s what it’s all about.
